| dc.description.abstract | This study explores the development and evaluation of three different Chlorhexidine-loaded Nanoparticles (CHNPs), including Chlorhexidine-Loaded Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (CHFNPs), Chlorhexidine-Loaded Chromium (III) Nanoparticles (CHCNPs), and Silver Oxide Loaded Chlorhexidine Encapsulated Eudragit Nanoparticles (CHX-Eudragit NPs), as effective drug delivery systems for enhancing antibacterial and antiviral properties. The primary aim was to improve the efficacy of chlorhexidine against Streptococcus pneumoniae strain 7465, an antibiotic-resistant pathogen, and explore their potential in antiviral therapy. CHFNPs were synthesized with particle sizes ranging from 124 to 140.1 nm and demonstrated an encapsulation efficiency of 70.8%. The sustained release of chlorhexidine (80% released within 24 hours) and enhanced antibacterial activity, with a MIC of 50 µg/mL and MBC of 50 µg/mL, highlighted the potential of CHFNPs for sustained therapeutic effects. These nanoparticles also showed promising antiviral efficacy, reducing viral RNA levels in Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) infections. newline | |
