Abstract
Due to the increase in population and change in lifestyle of human beings, more
newlineand more industries are being setup almost everywhere in this world. Although these
newlineindustries are catering to the basic needs of human beings, but consequently it is
newlineleading towards the proliferation of huge waste in the environment in the form of
newlinepolluted water, air, and hazardous waste. There are numbers of methods to treat the
newlinewastewater and toxic gases, but all treatment methods result in the generation of
newlinehazardous waste i.e., simply the conversion of waste from liquid form or gaseous form
newlineinto solid waste. In addition to this solid waste is also generated by the industrial units
newlinein the form of process residues etc. For sustainable development and to provide
newlinepollution free environment to human beings, environmentally safe effective disposal
newlinemethods for these hazardous wastes are required to be evolved. On the other hand, due
newlineto the intense increase in population in recent years, there is consequently a growth in
newlinemarket for construction projects mainly residential buildings and thus increasing
newlinepressure for extraction and consumption of natural resources causing their acute
newlineshortage. Soil, stone aggregates, sand, bitumen, cement, etc. are the prime materials
newlineused for construction.
newlineEnvironmental conservation is not only the responsibility of industrial sectors,
newlinebut in view of market competitiveness and to meet more stringent environmental laws,
newlineproactive and concrete actions from the industry are required to preserve the
newlineenvironment. This demand promotes the minimization of environmental impacts
newlinethrough the use of cleaner technologies that reduce waste generation and increase its
newlinereuse. The use of such technologies leads to the utilization of wastes, energy savings,
newlineand other gains. To achieve a sustainable environment and to meet the increasing
newlinerequirement for construction material, it is very significant to clinch a symbiotic
newlinerelationship between industries generating waste and the construction industries.
