Abstract
The present study purports to investigate Perceived social support and meaning in life in relation to quality of life among school teachers . The variables selected for the present study are related with the positive psychological states. It is expected that perceived social support and meaning in life will offer school teachers something to boost their positive qualities of adjustment and decrease their negative tendencies of poor quality of life. The practical advantage in studying these variables is that it will lead to form various strategies and policies to work for the betterment of the teacher s lives and other populations.
newlineThe present study concluded that perceived social support plays an important role in enhancing the quality of life among school teachers. Perceived social support is positively related with the quality of life, which helps the teachers to cope with the various problems facing in their lives. The study further revealed and concluded that Meaning in life also had a positive and significant relation with all the factors of the quality of life. Perceived social support and meaning in life both have positive relationship with all the dimensions of quality of life. Further the study examined the differential effects and interactional effects between two independent variables namely perceived social support and Meaning in life with one dependent variable Quality of life. High perceived social support and meaning in life leads a better or good quality of life among the respondents. While low perceived social support and low meaning in life leads to poor quality of life. The present study also examined the interactional effect of variables namely perceived social support, meaning in life and quality of life. It was found that both perceived social support and meaning in life predicted the dimensions of quality of life. Perceived social support and meaning in life had positive effect on quality of life.
