Abstract
The waste water containing various kinds of organic dyes and heavy metals are
newlinedischarged from several industries and factories which is a matter of concerned feeling as
newlinethese pollutants can cause somber effects on our environment. In this research work three
newlinekinds of modified adsorbents have been used. The modified adsorbents are Silica gel,
newlineAluminium isopropoxide and Bentonite clay. Silica gel, Aluminium isopropoxide and
newlineBentonite Clay were modified with Methyltrioctylammonium Chloride under ultrasonication
newlineand were used as adsorbents to remove various dyes and heavy metals from wastewater. This
newlineresearch work showed the adsorption enactment of Methylene blue, Lead, Congo red and
newlineMalachite green by Methyltrioctylammonium Chloride modified Silica gel. Adsorption
newlineperformance of Methylene blue, Lead and Cadmium were assessed by
newlineMethyltrioctylammonium Chloride modified Aluminium isopropoxide and adsorption
newlineperformance of fluoride ions and Methylene blue by Methyltrioctylammonium Chloride
newlinemodified Bentonite clay. This research work showed that adsorption capacity of these
newlinedifferent adsorbents has been significantly improved by modification with
newlineMethyltrioctylammonium Chloride as compared to unmodified adsorbents. The effects of
newlinedose of adsorbent, temperature and pH on adsorption of dyes and heavy metals have been
newlinestudied. Characterization of adsorbent was made by Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy,
newlineX-Ray Diffraction and Scanning electron Microscope. Adsorption of these dyes and heavy
newlinemetals on the Methyltrioctylammonium Chloride modified Silica gel, Aluminium
newlineisopropoxide and Bentonite Clay has been correlated well with the Langmuir model. The
newlineresults proved that Silica gel, Aluminium isopropoxide and Bentonite clay modified by
newlineMethyltrioctylammonium Chloride were effective adsorbents for the adsorption of Methylene
newlineblue dye, Congo red, Malachite green, Lead, Cadmium and Fluoride ions and these are
newlineexcellent adsorbents because these are environmentally safe and economic in nature.
