Abstract
This research work deals with fault diagnosis and fault tolerant
newlinecontrol in linear systems Fault diagnostic procedures are basically techniques
newlinethat detect the presence of fault in a system Fault tolerant control aims at
newlinemaking the system continue to work in spite of the occurrence of fault but
newlinewith a slightly degraded performance Faults that occur even in a single
newlinecomponentsubsystem of a large system may cumulatively lead to overall
newlineperformance deterioration and improper system behavior The major
newlinechallenge in the research work undertaken is to identify and bridge the gap
newlinebetween the actual faults and parameter variation of the componentssystems
newlinewithin their tolerances In this open area of research there are still unsolved
newlineand unraveled problems Few such problems have been identified and
newlinetechniques have been proposed in this research work As control systems
newlineoccupy every walks of life failure of any componentsystem affects the
newlinereliability and sometimes results in catastrophic damage Serious challenges
newlineare encountered in detecting the fault occurrence owing to the complex
newlinesystem behavior influence of environmental conditions etc
