Abstract
This thesis work presents the systematic study of structural, electronic and magnetic properties of Cr substituted Zn-Co and Cu-Co ferro-spinels and transition metal ion implanted MgO thin films for spintronic applications. The electronic structural properties investigated through synchrotron radiation based Near-edge and Extended X-ray absorption fine-structure (NEXAFS/EXAFS) and magnetic study investigated using Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) have been correlated with Mossbauer Spectroscopy technique. Low energy ion-beam induced fabrication of transition metal doped MgO thin films provides the understanding of valence state and coordination geometry of implanted metal ions in the MgO system which acts as a groundwork to study complex systems. This work is a backbone of spintronic applications especially for Magnetic Tunnel Junction devices.
