Abstract
Ayurveda mentioned that human life depends upon 3 factors 1. Diet 2. sleep and 3 celibacy.
newlineThese factors govern the health and diseases states. They are dependent on these factors only.
newlineThey are called Trayopstambha (Tripods), and as a house is built upon the pillars, similarly, our
newlinelife is based upon these three factors.
newline Celibacy or Brahmacharya is an important factor among these factors. The word Brahmacharya
newlinehas a broad sense. Still, present context, sexual desire control is one of the meanings of the word
newlineBrmahacharya, and it has been applied in this topic. Ayurveda suggested keeping control over
newlinethe mind and sense organs. Ayurvedic physiology suggests balancing the activities that store the
newlineenergy in our body and utilizing the energy in our body. Brambhacharya deals with storing the
newlineenergy in our body, and by that means, Ayurveda advises to control the mind and the sense
newlineorgans and keep the celibacy.
