Psychosocial correlates of personality and relationship satisfaction among millennials

Abstract

Generation is a term used to describe group of people who were born between 15- 20 years. Millennials also called as generation Y is the generation born between 1980 and 2000. Personality and romantic relationship satisfaction has always garnered interest with respect to millenials as it is the first visible generation that has seen digital revolution. The effect of personality and romantic relationship satisfaction was studied on emotional intelligence, happiness, life satisfaction and self esteem in millenials. The results revealed that there exists gender difference in personality, romantic relationship satisfaction, emotional intelligence, happiness, life satisfaction and self esteem. Extraversion, Openness to Experience, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness were found to be positively related whereas neuroticism was found to be negatively related to emotional intelligence, happiness, life satisfaction and self esteem. Romantic relationship satisfaction was found to be positively related to emotional intelligence, happiness, life satisfaction and self esteem. Predictors were also obtained for emotional intelligence, happiness, life satisfaction and self esteem. newline
