dc.description.abstractTeaching is an important profession which aids in nation building by transferring the acquired knowledge and skills by the teachers to the students. Job satisfaction of an employee is an important factor that determines the efficiency of the teachers and eventually determining the organizational success and growth. Creativity is also an important variable that is important for a teacher so as to introduce new innovative teaching techniques and thereby improving understanding ability of the students in a classroom learning experience. Creativity level of teachers will help students remain focussed on his studies and eventually aid in improving his performance in studies and co-curricular activities. The study aims to study the relationship between job dissatisfaction and creativity among teaching fraternity and normally it is expected that dissatisfied employees would be low in creativity. At the same time many studies have established that even a dissatisfied employee can be creative if he is motivated by the management and if he possess adequate emotional intelligence. This study is carried out among the teachers in various engineering colleges in Coimbatore district with a sample size of 322 respondents. Creativity is the dependent variable and job dissatisfaction is independent variable whereas motivation and emotional intelligence were introduced in the study as moderating variables. The direct effect between job dissatisfaction and creativity shows that there is no relationship between these two variables. At the same time when motivation and emotional intelligence were introduced as moderating variables it was empirically established that even job dissatisfied employees can be creative if he is motivated by the management and if he is emotionally intelligent. newline
