Abstract
This study titled A Study of the Influence of Autonomy and Accountability of Government Secondary School Teachers of Delhi with respect to Curriculum Transaction and Pupil Achievement is a descriptive study which has employed both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. In this study, review of literature has played a key role in providing a clarity of concepts like autonomy and the difference with constructs like freedom, liberty, separateness, individualism, free will, agency etc. and concepts like the types, need, barriers of autonomy with respect to teaching and learning. Also reviews relating to accountability as a concept, its types, need, importance in teaching and learning processes and in schools is also studied in detail contributing to the formulation of Chapter 1. Also, studies in context with the Indian schools, their administrative structure, general patterns of teaching and accountability mechanisms have been reviewed, a description of the recent accountability measures in Delhi schools etc. have been reviewed, constituting the Chapter 2. The reviews also include studies on effect, influence, impact etc. so as to develop an understanding of the difference between these three and understand mechanisms to study /measure influence.
