| dc.description.abstract | The increasing demand for electricity and the declining availability of fossil fuels have led to a growing interest in renewable energy sources (RES) like solar and wind. However, integrating RES with the grid is challenging due to their intermittent nature and the dynamic load fluctuations they can cause. newlineRenewable energy sources (RES) like solar and wind are increasingly being used to meet the growing demand for electricity. However, integrating RES with the grid is challenging due to dynamic load fluctuations. This research proposes a hybrid energy system (HES) using solar and wind energy, integrated with a unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) controlled by a single comprehensive artificial neural network (SCANN). newlineThe SCANN-controlled UPQC effectively mitigates voltage and current disturbances, maintaining the grid voltage at the rated value and meeting the IEEE 519 - 2004 power quality standards. The proposed HES-UPQC system is validated with a hardware prototype under dynamic grid conditions, confirming its effectiveness in providing real-time grid support. newlineThis research proposes a hybrid energy system (HES) using solar and wind energy, integrated with a unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) controlled by a single comprehensive artificial neural network (SCANN). The UPQC provides both series and shunt compensation, which allows it to effectively mitigate voltage and current disturbances. The SCANN-controlled UPQC is able to learn and adapt to dynamic grid conditions, ensuring that the newline newlineiv newlinegrid voltage is maintained at the rated value and that the IEEE 519 - 2004 power quality standards are met. newline newline | |
