Abstract

The use of wireless technologies will keep on increasing in the coming time. Consumers will demand for more advanced technologies in the future. With the growth in mobile communication systems, millimetre wave (mm Wave) and terahertz (THz) have gained an interest to the researchers as they can expand the capacity to a larger extent. Conventional fading models like Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami-m, shadowed Rician, etc. are not able to characterize complex and challenging channels encountered by upcoming wireless technologies. The fading channel models should have flexible fading parameters and support signal transmission through both line of sight (LOS) and non-line of sight (NLOS) components. Motivated by the limitations of existing fading models to characterize the channels encountered by the high-capacity emerging technologies in the wireless communication system, this thesis presents the study of several performance metrics over Shadowed Beaulieu-Xie (SBX) fading channels.
