In modern years, there is an increasing need in the reduction of fuel consumption with improved atmospheric emissions in ground transportation, marine, defense and aerospace towards a trend in employing light alloys for structural component production. With the increasing requirement for newer materials with improved properties for applications in automotive and aerospace industries, composite materials are the solutions. In a wide range of industrial applications that include automatic precision devices and thermal management systems, low weight structural materials and high-performance materials are vastly required. Among the choice, aluminum and magnesium alloys have combinational properties of excellent cast ability, high thermal conductivity, good mechanical properties, desired wear and corrosion resistance and damping and vibration properties, which may them very much newlineattractive for complex shaped components production. The limitations of these materials are: they have a noticeable reduction in mechanical properties at low temperatures relatively, at less than 200°C, due to which their applications were very much limited in automotive and aerospace divisions. To overcome these issues, the most versatile way to improve the light alloys mechanical properties at both high and low temperature applications is to add a very had reinforcing phase, which is typically carbon-based or ceramic based particles, which are so called as metal matrix composites, which are specifically developed to combine good toughness and ductility of the matrix material with the high stiffness and strength of the reinforcing ceramic particles. newline newline
