dc.description.abstractCurrent proteomic technologies provide extensive, high throughput analyses for the early identification of lung cancer.Changes in protein expression pattern owing to stimulus can serve as indicators or biomarkers of biological and pathological processes, or physiological and pharmacological responses to drug treatment, thus aiding in early diagnosis and prognosis of disease. A diet with impaired oxidant-antioxidant balance is found to be a risk factor for the development of chronic disease. The activities of MDA, GSH, GR, CAT and SOD were found to be altered in case of NNK treated rats when compared to controls and they might serve as markers indicating increased oxidative stress in inflammation and various other diseases. Furthermore,the four proteins namely transferrin, apolipoprotein A-1, serum alpha-1 antitrypsin and immunglobulin gamma1 heavy chain constant region were found to have potential for the development of prospective biomarkers for detection of lung cancer at an early stage and also studying the course of disease progression in humans.The observation that lung cancer cell produce IgG1H protein, is secreted in blood surrounding the local tissue and the produced antibodies are against the recombinant protein IgG1H suggest that it may be involved in the biological behavior of this cancer and may serve as a useful marker for cancer cell differentiation, diagnosis and prognosis. newlineen_US
