Effect of Integration of Health Interventions in Microfinance Operations of Self Help Groups on Maternal and Neonatal Health Practices in Raebarelly Uttar Pradesh

Abstract

Although a considerable progress has been made by India since independence towards reduction of maternal and child mortality, it is unfortunate that we are still bogged down with maternal and child survival while similar countries have move beyond surviving to thriving to reach optimum development. Despite significant advances in the knowledge and evidence base for maternal and child survival, our poor survival report card signifies our inability to translate available knowledge into impact at scale through conventional health system driven approaches. The public health community is eager for insights and innovations to address the challenge of scaling-up simple, low-cost and high-impact community-based interventions to improve maternal and newborn survival. newline
