In Vitro and in Vivo Evaluation of Wound Healing Potency of Adathoda Vasica

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by improper glucose homeostasis due to resistance to insulin. Persistent diabetes can lead to the risk of lower limb amputation. 25% of the total diabetic population develop diabetic foot ulcer and 84% of the DFU patients encounter lower leg amputations during their life time. In vivo diabetic models can be genetically derived or induced by nutrition/diet feeding have enormous contributions to research of diabetic wound healing and its related complication. Although there is milestone achieved in the discovery of anti-hyperglycemic drugs, there is a need of replacement for these in existence due to their limitations or side effects.
