Abstract
In aerospace and automobile engineering field high hardness
newlinematerials can be easily machined by electrical discharge machining EDM
newlineprocess with complex shapes Electric discharge machining is a material
newlineremoval procedure by means of electrical energy due to the repetitive spark
newlinedischarges This erosion process has stochastic nature of machining due to the
newlinerandom distribution of spark energy over the surface A lot of process
newlinemechanism enhancements are needed to nullify the non linear nature of the
newlineEDM process
newlineSince the applied DC pulses are determining the machining
newlinecharacteristics in EDM process, it is important to enhance the performance of
newlinethe pulse generator Owing to its ability of producing larger crater volume
newlinewith random energy distribution the transistor pulse generator can produce
newlinepoor surface finish with higher material removal rate The conventional RC
newlinepulse generator can produce good surface quality by producing tiny crater on
newlinethe machined surface Nevertheless it can remove material with less erosion
newlinerate In the present study an attempt has been made to develop an iso energy
newlinepulse generator for improving machining characteristics with less arcing
newlinenature and to investigate its influence on performance measures of erosion
