A Study on Organisational Environment for Human Resource Development With Special Reference to NTPC Limited Sipat

Abstract

The present study is an attempt to describe the organisational environment of newlineNTPC Ltd. Sipat, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The entire work has been presented in six newlinechapters, as under: newlineChapter-I is an introductory chapter divided into three subsections. The first newlinesection presents a holographic view of power sector in India. It covers the areas newlinerelating to demand and supply position of power, electricity consumers, power newlinegeneration and control and plant load factor. The second section describes the role of newlineNTPC in the power production in India. The last section is the theoretical presentation newlineof Human resource development concepts and practices in different organisations. newlineChapter-II presents the objectives of the study followed by scope, limitations newlineand noteworthy contribution of the research. Keeping in view of the objectives, newlinehypothesis for the present study has been outlined in this chapter. At the chapter end newlinebrief presentation of the previous work done on the topic is highlighted in the form of newlineliterature review. newlineChapter-III deals with research methods adopted in the current study. The newlinepopulation for the study constitute of employees working at NTPC Ltd. Sipat. Sample newlinesize of 240 respondents divided into two strata s i.e executives and workmen s is newlineselected for the study. Stratified random sampling procedure was adopted for data newlinecollection from the employees. HRD Climate and welfare and ethics related newlinequestionnaire was administered as a data collection tools. Employee s response was newlinecollected on a five point likert scale. Data sources include both primary and secondary newlinemeans. The demographic profile of the respondents is presented in detail followed by newlineanalytical tools used in the study. Statistical tools like reliability test were used for newlinedetermination consistency in data set.
