Abstract

The chapter I introduce the significance of green chemistry and also the difference between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalyst. newlineIn chapter II, details of simple and elegant procedure adopted for the synthesis of room-temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) in high yields by reacting 1-methylimidazole and alkyl halides at 80ºC is explained. Spectroscopic evidence of ionic liquid is obtained by FT-IR, HR-MS and NMR. This protocol provides a simple strategy for the generation of a variety of new ionic liquids under environmentally benign condition. newlineChapter III palladium immobilized [Cemim]Br outlines as a heterogeneous catalyst for an effective Heck reaction with excellent yield under solvent free condition. This protocol provides a simple strategy for the generation of a variety of new C-C bonds under environmentally benign condition. newlinePalladium immobilized [Cemim]Br was found to be a heterogeneous catalyst for Suzuki-Miyaura reaction with excellent yield. The newline
