dc.description.abstractThe dissertation is driven by a goal of achieving successful integration of antenna and filter on a common ground plane for reducing interference. In order to achieve the goal of the research, initially, individual components were designed and electromagnetically simulated which includes triple-band antenna, three single-band coupled line BPF, dual-band coupled line BPF and filtering-antenna. ) newlineA small triple-band antenna is designed at 1.6 GHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz frequency band. A rectangular ring slot is introduced inside the rectangular patch which gives two frequencies i.e. 2.4 GHz and a band from 4.95 GHz to 5.5 GHz with resonance at 5.2 GHz. A small rectangular slot of size 5mm*2mm is introduced inside the partial ground plane which gives single frequency at 1.6 GHz. So the antenna resonates at three different frequencies with fine bandwidth. ) newlineThen, three coupled line BPF is designed at 1.6 GHz, 2.4 GHz, and 5.2 GHz. Due to batter coupling between the resonators parallel-coupled line BPF gives good BW. Further triple-band antenna designed at 1.6 GHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz are integrated with single-band BPF, designed at 1.6 GHz, 2.4 GHz, and 5.2 GHz one by one. Next, the integration of a triple-band antenna with three bandpass filters is performed. Furthermore, the ability to switch off or switch on the BPF 1, BPF 2 and BPF 3 are incorporated by using a slot of 0.2mm x 0.2mm at the junction point of the four components for making the filtenna reconfigurable. ) newlineWhen the port is connected with BPF 1, the triple-band antenna is integrated with 1.6 GHz BPF and at the output, 1.6 GHz frequency is achieved. Similarly, when the port is connected with BPF 2, the triple-band antenna is integrated with 2.4 GHz BPF and at the output, 2.4 GHz frequency is achieved and when the port is connected with BPF 3, the triple-band antenna is integrated with 5.2 GHz BPF and at the output, 5.2 GHz frequency is achieved. Triple band antenna, coupled line bandpass filters, and filtenna are designed, electromagnetically simulated and their prototypes fabricated. The prototypes are fabricated when the simulation process ends using conventional printed circuit board technology i.e. photolithography process. The antenna, filters, and filtenna are fabricated and prototypes are measured. ) newlineFinally one dual-band filtenna is designed and this design gives a wonderful example of frequency rejection. In this, triple-band antenna is integrated with dual-band BPF, and the combination allows two frequencies to pass through it and rejects the undesired frequency very efficiently. newline newline
