One of the most significant category of organic molecules that may be found in nature or created in a laboratory are heterocyclic systems containing nitrogen and sulfur in its skeleton. These substances are used in the treatment of common diseases and have a variety of biological properties. A review of the literature revealed that 1,5 benzothiazepines moiety is a promising scaffold among them with a wide range of biological effects, including antibacterial, anticancer, antimalarial, antidepressant, antihistaminic, antitubercular, and newlineanti inflammatory properties. The wide range of conditions for which benzothiazepines are newlineemployed, including hypertension and coronary vasodilation, etc., has sparked intense newlineinterest in the thorough investigation of this family of chemicals. In the past several decades, novel compounds containing heterocyclic ring systems fused with benzene ring systems have emerged as a prominent focus of research in the hunt for chemotherapeutic drugs. It has been newlinediscovered that the 1,5-benzothiazepine group of compounds, in which a seven-membered newlineheterocyclic thiazepine ring is fused with a benzene ring, act as particularly potent CVS newlinemedications. newlineOne well-known medication in this class, diltiazem, also known as a first-generation drug, is patented as (CRD-401) (+)-cis-(2S,3S)-3-acetyloxy-2,3-dihydro-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-5-(2 dimethylaminoethyl) -1,5-benzothiazepin-4(5H)-one as its hydrochloride salt. It is used clinically to treat a variety of cardiac problems all over the world and is still being researched newlinefor potential further therapeutic benefits. The synthesis and investigation of this group of chemicals is greatly sparked by this. Clentiazem, a second-generation medicine with the patent number CRT-3090, is a chloro derivative of diltiazem that has been discovered to have more medical potency than diltiazem. This finding raises the possibility that the chloro substituent in the fused benzene ring served as a pharmacophore.
