Abstract
Organizations are social system, where people collectively contribute to growth and advancement. Human resources are the most important factors that accord efficiency and effectiveness in an organization. The quality of work life plays an important role in promoting efficiency and providing satisfaction at work. Many organizations are now realizing the importance of building the emotional competencies of the employees in addition to their intellectual proficiencies. An important pre-requisite in this regard is the assessment of EI and its impact on the QWL of the employees

newlineThe aim of this research was to study the emotional intelligence (EI) of employees working in the private sector institutions of higher education and its impact on quality of their work life (QWL) in the National Capital Region (NCR). The current study was descriptive correlational research. The sample consisted of 618 teaching and non- teaching staff of the private sector institutions of higher education affiliated to the university created under the State or the Central Act.

newlineIn order to collect the required data regarding research variables, the questionnaire on emotional intelligence and quality of work life was collected on a 5-point Likert scale. The relationship between emotional intelligence and quality of work life were analysed by using Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. Significance of the correlation coefficient was tested through t test. The impact of emotional intelligence on quality of work life was tested through regression analysis. The SPSS 20 software was used for the analysis.

newlineThis research work achieved its objective to analyse the relationship and impact of emotional intelligence on quality of work life in the employees working in the higher educational institutions of the private sector located in the national capital region of India. It was found that correlation exists between emotional intelligence and quality of work life.
