Abstract

newline quotWireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) provides a basic structure for facilitating large-scale monitoring of various application domains like environmental monitoring, disaster management, habitat monitoring etc, by providing sensor observations at high temporal and spatial resolution. Although wireless sensor technology has developed a lot and being used in varied applications every then and now, still there is a need to develop appropriate infrastructures in which open interfaces and service oriented architecture standards can be combined as a technological basis for monitoring phenomenon to provide real-time information for prediction and rational decision making. newlineIn this regard application architecture has been proposed which enables the integration of data from multitude of heterogeneous systems by developing the middleware, based on Open Geo-Spatial Consortium (OGC) standards, introducing the feature of interoperability. The middleware implementation is based purely on the principles of SOA which provides quality assurance data, helping decision makers to understand the situation more accurately. The architecture investigates various real world scenarios for real time surveillance and control. To achieve this, the research follows the strategy of phenomenon monitoring, data acquisition, data management and early warning systems in response to monitored parameters from various environments. The main motive of research is to develop standard application architecture in which open interfaces, sensor web and web services can be combined to meet the requirement of monitoring, collecting and analyzing sensor data i.e., allowing decision maker to make a rational decision in time whenever needed, in some cases also leading to early warning system. newlinequot newline
