Abstract
Investment in general sense is simply putting the savings of an individual which is the
newlineresult of excess of income over expenditure, to generate returns which can be positive
newline(Profit) or negative (Loss). In Indian scenario, livestock, land and precious metals are
newlinesome of the traditional modes of investment. However, during 19 th century revolution
newlinein Indian banking system has put forward many other investment options like fixed
newlinedeposits, Government bonds, PPF to name a few. Gradually with the development of
newlinecapital markets in the country, stock market investment emerges as one of the good
newlineinvestment option for generating higher returns, however, as per famous proverb
newline Roses are always with thorns so, the rose of stock market investment (higher returns)
newlineare always have thorns (greater risk) attached to them.
