Abstract

This thesis presents a structured narrative on the promising role of Coordination Polymers (CPs) in addressing critical environmental challenges. It begins by highlighting their unique luminescent properties, diverse synthetic strategies, and photocatalytic capabilities. Five CPs are examined in detail. CP-1 (PUC-5), a Zn-based 3D MOF, demonstrates excellent stability and sensitivity in detecting and adsorbing Fe²and#8314;, Pb²and#8314;, and Vand#8309;and#8314; ions, making it ideal for water purification. CP-2 (PUC-9), a cobalt-based amine-functionalized MOF, functions as a selective fluorescence turn-off sensor for nitric oxide, with potential applications in aqueous media and biological systems. CP-3 (PUC-10) and its HNT composite exhibit high selectivity toward hydroxyl-substituted nitroaromatic compounds, aiding environmental monitoring. CP-4 (PUCP-1) and its rGO composite act as efficient photocatalysts for Safranin-O dye degradation, while CP-5 (PUC-8) and its rGO composite enhance methylene blue degradation and show low cytotoxicity.
