Abstract
The Acoustical requirements of multipurpose halls are of varying nature. The
newlinetypes of programmes that are carried out in these halls are quite varied ranging from
newlinemusic, to dramas and lectures. Especially the demands for such halls are quite high in
newlinemany educational and premier institutes of importance. In this context this thesis is
newlinedealt with taking into consideration the Acoustics of multipurpose halls. A few of these
newlinehalls have been chosen from different locations and organizations. In situ experimental
newlinestudies have been made in all these auditoria. Reverberation test is carried out
newlineaccording to the standard of ISO 3743-2. An impulsive signal has been taken as a
newlinesource of excitation and recording the reverberation decay in different points of
newlineaudience floor as well as on the stage. Simulation studies have been made using the
newlineOdeon software. Initially the modeling of the auditorium has been done using Google
newlinesketch up and hence exporting to the Odeon software as input
