newlinechanging the face of the Indian retail industry Investment in the retail sector is
newlineestimated at US400 500 million in 2006 and its estimated to grow to US4
newlinebillion by the end of 2010 The increased spending on clothing may be driven
newlineby the new comfort level with the use of credit cards About 45 per cent of the
newlinecredit card spending is contributed by shopping for clothing In comparison
newlineinternationally only 28 per cent respondents went shopping for entertainment
newlinewhile 26 per cent did not In every way the Indian consumer is ready for new
newlineretail formats new brands and new price points
