dc.description.abstractSocial anxiety or social phobia can be a hindrance for adolescents to get successful academically as well as socially. So, the investigator found it a demand of time to study about social anxiety among students in relation to emotional intelligence and locus of control. So a study named Social Anxiety Among High School Students In Relation To Locus Of Control, Emotional Intelligence And Peer Relations was conducted on 600 (randomly selected) 10th class students from Government High/Senior Secondary Schools from five districts of Malwa region of Punjab. Descriptive statistics -Mean, median, standard deviation, skewness and kurtosis were used to study the nature of score distribution. Percentage analysis was done to check the extent of social anxiety among rural and urban high school students, t-test, Karl Pearson coefficient of correlation, Step up regression technique, R along with R2 F-ratio were used to analyse the data. On the basis of the main findings of the study, it is concluded that Locus of Control, Emotional Intelligence and Peer Relations are significantly positively correlated with Social Anxiety among High School Students. It was also revealed that the conjoint effect of locus of control, emotional intelligence and peer relations on social anxiety of high school students was found to be higher than that of locus of control, emotional intelligence and peer relations separately. Further, a significant difference in Social Anxiety among high school students with respect to their locale was found. Urban students showed a higher level of social anxiety than students from rural areas. It was concluded that on the whole high school students showed an average level of Social Anxiety newline
