Abstract

The present thesis entitled A Study of Oilseed Cultivation in Solapur District : A newlineGeographical Analysis (1991-2011) is an attempt to study the volume of change in oilseed newlinecultivation in Solapur district from the year 1991-2001 to 2001-2011.There are various factors newlineare affecting to change in area under different crops such as rainfall distribution and newlinevariability, soil type, social behavior of farmer, and demand in the market. In Solapur newlinedistrict area under the Total Pulses, Sugarcane, Safflower, Soyabean, fruits, Vegetables newlineare increased and deceased in Groundnut, Sunflower, Sesame, Linseed crops. The rice is newlinevery limited crop in the Solapur District. In fruit farming area under Grapes is increasing newlineday by day and now it is the backbone of the economic development in the Solapur newlinedistrict. newlineThe present thesis aims to study the arial changes in oilseed cultivation of all newlineeleven tahsils in Solapur district. To Study the temporal changes in oilseed cultivation newlinefrom 1991-2001 to 2001-2011 of all eleven tehsils in Solapur district.To study the impact newlineof physical and socio-economic determinants on the oilseed cultivation in the study newlineregion.To study the characteristics of population and its effects on agriculture.To study newlinethe regional variation in oilseed cultivation from year 1991-2001 to 2001-2011. newlineThe thesis consists of eight chapters.
