Development of optical feedback system for non contact label free biomedical applications

Abstract

Biophotonics, i.e., bios life- and phos light-, is an emerging field of biomedical research that explores the interaction between biological materials and radiant light energy. The biophotonics applications can be found in numerous domains, such as diagnostic, therapeutic, food industry, agriculture, information technology, and many more. The eruption of the global pandemic has pitched towards the development of compact, economical, non-contact, label-free, and non-destructive point-of-use optical diagnostic devices. An upsurge demand is also noticed in the current scenario for in-vitro diagnostic devices IVDs- to provide immediate support to pathobiological studies. To date, various optical technologies such as spectroscopy, microscopy, ellipsometry, and interferometry have been deployed to develop novel devices for biomedical supports. In this thesis, a non- contact, label-free, compact, less-expensive, non-destructive, and rapid diagnostic tool is developed based on the interferometric principle. newline
