Response of Wheat Triticum aestivum L under Various Moisture Regimes and INM Modules

Abstract

ABSTRACT newlineA field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2021-22 and 2022-23 at Crop Research Centre (Chirori), Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut (U.P.), India, to study the effect of moisture regimes and INM modules on Wheat (Triticum aestivum L. The soil of the experimental field was well drained, sandy loam in texture and slightly alkaline (pH 8.76) in reaction. It was low in available N (201.8 kg/ha) and O.C. (0.332 %), medium in available P (20.4 kg/ha) and K (222.2 kg/ha) with an EC of 0.320 dS/m. Three moisture regimes viz., I1-Irrigation at IW/CPE 0.7, I2- IW/CPE 0.9 and I3- at critical stages (CRI, LT, LJ, F and M) in main plots and six INM modules viz., N1- control, N2-100 % RDF, N3-125 % RDF, N4-50 % RDF+PM at 2.5 t/ha, N5-50 % RDF+PM at 2.5 t/ha+Azotobacter+PBS+KMB and 50 % RDF+PM at 2.5 t/ha+NPK consortia in sub plots were tested in split plot design with three replications. Wheat variety DBW-187 was sown on 16 and 18 November 2021 and 2022, respectively. The total rainfall received during first and second year of experimentation was 162.5 and 155.9 mm, respectively, while the maximum and minimum temperature ranged from 16.2 to 41.0 °C and 15.4 to 37.2 °C, while the minimum one from 4.7 to 21.7 °C and 4.6 to 22.0 °C during first and second year, respectively. newlineResults revealed that the growth parameters and yield attributes, yield, nutrient content, protein content improved significantly under crop received irrigation at critical stages with the integration of poultry manure at 2.5 t/ha and biofertilizers with 50 % RDF over control. The next in order was IW/CPE ratio of 0.9 with the application of 125 % RDF during both the years. The maximum grain and biological yield, gross returns (and#8377; 163623 and 173824/ha), net returns (and#8377; 116422 and 125200/ha) and B: C ratio (3.42 and 3.52) was registered with irrigation applied at critical stages during 2021-22 and 2023, respectively.
