dc.description.abstractThe growth of engineering colleges faculty in western countries. was evolutionary in nature. It took place because of voluntary efforts of Government and Private Universities. But in countries like India engineering colleges faculty management grew because of compulsion made by Universities and Government norms changes from time to time. The scope of faculty management has expanded considerably throughout the world. Universities and higher education technical institutions play fundamental part in the progress of any country. Both public and private higher education technical institutions specially in border area facing several discouraging deficiencies on many fronts and specifically hiring and retention of qualified faculty. newlineAs teaching does require a great deal of thoroughness and commitment, so in teaching it is more important to have mental commitment and loyalty than physical presence. But if these faculty members are not satisfied with their profession they will not be able to increase their performance and thus will not contribute to education sector of border area of Gurdaspur as well as towards the country. So it is very important for every institution to identify if their faculty members are really satisfied or not? And job satisfaction survey is a tool to check whether a person is happy with his job or not. It is important for every institution to know job satisfaction level of their teachers because success of the teaching institution is dependent to a great extent upon the satisfied teacher of the institutions. Every organization wishes that their employees perform best and through employee efficiency, employee performance, organization can be effective. Teaching is regarding as the noblest profession. It is therefore important that those individuals who join the teaching profession should be dedicated and competent in their work.
