dc.description.abstractBackground: Cardiovascular and lung health plays an important role in maintaining overall general health and well-being. Disorders affecting cardio-pulmonary health have emerged as a significant health issue. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death worldwide and respiratory diseases are highly prevalent. Many studies have shown the link between body posture and cardiopulmonary function, emphasizing the significant impact of body postures on various disorders. Yogic sukshma vyayama (YSV) one of the forms of yoga focusing on micro-movements and stretches, has the potential to positively impact these health aspects. Objective: The main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of YSV intervention on spine-shoulder mobility and cardiopulmonary function in healthy adult male participants. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, eighty healthy adult male participants between 18 to 25 years old were recruited from a university campus through convenient sampling and were divided into an experimental group (n = 40) and control group (n = 40). The experimental group participated in YSV intervention for 60 minutes daily, six days a week for 12 weeks and the control group followed their routine of the campus. All the assessments were done baseline and after 12 weeks of the intervention. Spinal mobility and shoulder range of motion was assessed using Modified-Modified Schober test (MMST) and universal goniometer respectively. Pulmonary functions were assessed using RMS Helios spirometer, cardiovascular functions were recorded using Omron T9P blood-pressure monitor and soft-metric tape for chest expansion in a controlled setting between 6 to 8 AM to reduce outside influences. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS version 22 and repeated measure ANOVA (RM-ANOVA) was conducted to analyze the within and between group comparison. 2
