newlineHigher education is about the fundamental significance of the nation, as it is an intense
newlineinstrument to construct the learning based society of the 21st Century (Nyangau, 2014).
newlineIn India, higher education institutions, especially management education, has grown rapidly
newlineover the years but at the same time it faces several challenges. The major challenges
newlineregarding higher education are to develop students for their career and to retain faculty.
newlineThe culture of the university plays an important role in creation and maintenance of a healthy
newlineenvironment where the students and the faculty can feel contented and their efficiency can be
newlineimproved. The culture of the university gets reflected in the values adopted by the
newlineorganisation and the behavior of the members of the organisation (Folch and Ion, 2009).
newlineIn Indian context, there is not plenteous research into higher education institutions as
newlineorganisational culture. Numerous studies have been conducted on employee engagement and
newlinework engagement. However, specifically the studies on the faculty engagement are limited
newline(Denison, 2010; Cutajar, 2012; Bagyo, 2013; and Herminingsih, 2015) and student engagement
newlinehas been studied extensively in developed countries (Kazmi, 2010; Korobova, 2012).
newlineTherefore the present study attempts to understand the impact of organisational culture on
newlinefaculty and students engagement in management education of public and private universities
newlinein Rajasthan, India. The main objectives of the study are to determine the dimensions of al
newlineculture, faculty engagement and students engagement, to study the impact of organisational
newlineculture on faculty and students engagement and lastly to find out the difference between
newlinepublic and private universities with reference to al culture, faculty engagement and student
newlineengagement.
newlineThis study attempts to measure culture through Denison model, faculty engagement through
newlinethe Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-17) and student engagement through the
newlineStudent Engagement Scale (SES). The dimensions of Denison Model are Involvement,
newlineConsistency, Adaptability ad Mission, the dimensions of UWES-17 scale are Vigor, Dedication and Absorption and the dimensions of Student Engagement Scale are Campus and
newlineClass Engagement.
newlineThe respondents for the study comprised of 212 faculties and 400 students (management
newlineeducation) from the public and private universities in Rajasthan. Statistical techniques like
newlineConfirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Simple and Multiple Regression (MR), and
newlineindependent t- test analysis were employed for data analysis. The results reveal that there is
newlinesignificant impact of organisational culture on faculty engagement; organisational culture on
newlinestudent engagement. Lastly, this study also reveals significant difference between OC, FE
newlineand SE with reference to public and private universities in Rajasthan.
