Hydroxyapatite (HAp) is a well-known material of choice in numerous newlinebiomedical applications such as orthopaedics, dentistry etc., because of its newlinesimilar configuration to the mineral phase of natural bone. Recent research newlinereports highlight that the addition of nano carbon in HAp improves the material newlineproperties that are used in biomedical applications by suitably altering its newlinemorphological, structural chemical and biocompatible properties. In this newlineregard the present work discusses the surface modification of the chemically newlinesynthesized HAp by incorporating nano carbon through DC low-temperature newlineplasma technique for improving the surface morphological properties for newlinebiomedical applications. The surface modification in plasma was achieved by newlinevarying the plasma processing parameters such as voltage, gas flow rate and newlineprocessing time. The structural, morphological and biological characterization newlinefor the as-prepared and plasma processed samples were carried out. X-Ray newlineDiffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Field Emission Scanning Electron newlineMicroscope (FESEM), High Resolution-Transmission Electron Microscope newline(HR-TEM), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier Transform newlineInfra-Red spectroscopy (FTIR), SBF test, and cytotoxicity analysis was done newlinefor as prepared and plasma processed samples for analysis of improved surface newlineproperties and bioactivity. newlinePlasma processing is a versatile technique to produce nanomaterials that newlinecan be used for biomedical and sensor applications. Carbon Dots (CDs) are the newlineclass of nano materials that possess highly photoluminescent properties.
