A comprehensive framework for converting legacy data to linked data with provenance

Abstract

Over the last decade, research has highlighted the importance of the Semantic Web as newlinea legitimate technology for sharing knowledge on the web. Knowledge sharing has newlinebeen considered as a significant aspect that enables users to share, reuse, integrate and newlineaccess to the relevant resources on the web. Knowledge sharing is infact, an essential newlineactivity on the web through which organizations can cooperate for solving different newlineproblems, exchanging ideas and exposing information. In the present day, knowledge newlineis shared using various social media applications and web technologies. These newlinetechnologies have real drawbacks that they do not provide the foundation for defining newlinesemantics at the data level so that machines can interpret the semantics of the shared newlinedata on the web. Further, sharing knowledge without semantics causes newlineinteroperability, data integration and data reusing issues in a substantial way leading newlineto legacy data remain hidden in the traditional storage systems. newline
