Sloshing is a phenomenon occurring inside partially filled compartments of a ship and newlinecan shift its metacentric height. The present study focuses on sloshing conditions inside newlineship compartments which contribute to critical instability condition. Liquid inside these newlinecompartments can create free surface effect, sloshing and slamming on walls which lead newlineto internal structural damages. When at partially filled conditions, sloshing is larger, and newlinethe probability of capsizing is more. This problem is of fundamental concern regarding newlinethe stability of a Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) ship and is studied individually by classifying newlineoverall ship stability into intact and damage stability. An extensive literature study was newlinecarried out in the area of sloshing inside intact and damaged ship. This includes the newlinenumerical and experimental tools used for study, theoretical background, and identifying newlinethe major research gaps, based on which the objectives were finalized. newlineThe present study develops motion and stability plots for an intact ship with sloshing newlineinside compartments based on fill level and shape of compartment. The study also newlineidentifies the critical damage locations where influence of sloshing would be higher based newlineon probabilistic method. The Volume of fluids (VOF) method was adopted to find the newlinesloshing at critical damage locations due to floodwater and its effects on the motion and newlinestability of a damaged ship. newlineNumerical modelling and validation were carried out prior to the fabrication of ship newlinemodel for experimental investigations. The natural frequencies in heave, roll and pitch newlinewere obtained as 9.4 rad/s, 4.4 rad/s and 4.9 rad/s from roll decay analysis of an intact newlineship model. Experiments were conducted in wave flume on Ro-Ro ship model of scale newlineratio 1:125 made of Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) in head, beam, and quarter sea newlineconditions to obtain motion responses newline
