I newlinePreface newlineThe growth of a single crystal is very much needful in the development of Science and newlineTechnology. Hence, the study of a single crystal is not only limited to the data collection newlineregarding the complex formation but can be used for different applications in the field of newlinelasers, optical fibers, telecommunication, optical data processing, nonlinear optical newlineapplications (NLO) etc. For the crystals to be useful in these different applications, the newlinecrystal should be available in bulk form. Hence the search and growth of such new crystals newlinebecome one of the fascinating works over the past few decades. newlineAlso, it is very much essential to know the impact of ionization radiation like Co-60 newlinegamma radiation on the crystals because of their utilizations under different environmental newlineconditions for various applications. Hence, an effort has been made to synthesize, growth, newlinecharacterization and the effect of gamma irradiation study on some derivatives of organic newlinecrystals. newlineThe thesis consists of 8 chapters. The first chapter gives the introduction to different newlinegrowth techniques and the significance of solution growth slow evaporation technique. An newlineoverview of nonlinear optics and its effects along with their applications in terms of newlinematerial perspectives were also discussed in this chapter. The detailed literature surveys on newlinethe different organic crystals in pure form and also in doped form with the addition of newlinedifferent derivatives are discussed in Second chapter. The third chapter gives an newlineoverview of the experimental description of different characterization techniques used in newlinethe present work. newlineThe fourth chapter presents the synthesis, growth and characterization of Strontium newlineL-acorbate hexahydrate crystal by a slow evaporation method. Also, the effect of gamma newlineray irradiation on electrical, optical and mechanical properties of the crystal was discussed. newlineStructural study (single crystal XRD and powder XRD) methods were implemented to find newlinethe unit cell parameters and crystallinity of the crystal.
