Herbal cosmetic is a term familiar with everyone and is a fast growing segment in upcoming years. Each individual now a day s demand for herbal cosmetics, this is because of the side effects of synthetic ones and the awareness about the herbs or ayurvedic drugs. People also have faith and belief that ayurvedic drugs have power to heal all the skin and hair related problems and diseases. newlineAs India is rich in flora and fauna many researchers came up with the formulation, usage, dosage and treatment using ayurvedic drug. Drugs used in cosmetics are in various forms such as powder, semisolid, liquids as well as solid. The parts of plants that can be used in cosmetics are stem, root, leaf, flower, bud, fruit etc. They can be used directly or in the extracted forms. newlineIndia is also rich in its different culture and various rituals. Human beings have a very deep faith in it. They are very much keen to perform it and the material required for it. Worship is a way of life and people offer various offerings to the gods usually including flowers, leaves, fruits, coconuts, clothes etc. out of which floral offerings are found in huge quantity. Thus, temple debris has a unique allotment of flower garbage for all waste. After fulfilling their purpose, flowers along with other waste, find their way into the garbage or are discarded either into some water bodies or left up on the open places as a waste causing various environmental problems. newlineTaking this major problem into consideration a true attempt is made here to convert this floral waste into cosmetics and value added product. So that it will reduce the pollution to some extend and secondly help to develop herbal cosmetics. The majorly offered flowers in temples are marigold, rose, chrysanthemum, hibiscus, etc. Out of which marigold was found in large quantity.
