Effect of Nursing Intervention Package in Prevention of Muscle Atrophy Among Critically Ill Patients

Abstract

ABSTRACT newlineSkeletal muscle atrophy is an unattended problem in critical care area. Study assessed the effectiveness of nursing intervention package in prevention of muscle atrophy in critically ill to reduce the negative impact. Experimental study in which total 160 patients were selected. Nursing intervention package given for 07 days. Pre and post muscle strength and muscle circumference assessment done on 1st , 3rdand 7th day with MMT and inch tape. Result showed with significance difference (plt0.001**)in within group and between group. Outcome variable like duration of ICU stay and hospital stay depicts that there is early discharge. Concluded that nursing intervention package was effective to prevent muscle atrophy in critical care area. newline newline
