Abstract

Reformation of engineering education system is becoming mandatory due to amazing unprecedented technological developments. Universities and institutions around the globe are experimenting with several educational frameworks including innovative instructional methodologies to bring excellence in engineering education to produce globally competent engineers. It has been experienced over years that ever-growing developments and unforeseen challenges pose a greater impact on the educational frameworks adopted by various Universities and institutions of all countries. In our country, the engineering education system is greatly influenced by not only the technological developments but also the socio-economic and financial status, political instability and to a greater extent of environmental conditions such as current pandemic that leads to lot of unpredictable and ambiguous situations. This dissertation is exclusively focused on decision making under uncertainty and ambiguous environments. Fuzzy decision making approach is proposed to handle the unpredictable events and rough sets based ranking strategy is adopted to handle the ambiguous situations towards implementation of appropriate educational framework that will sustain for a long-term period in the educational institutions of a specific region. Individual instructional methodology or collection of more than one methodology as a group forms the set of alternatives. A fuzzy decision set is derived in which the elements i.e., the alternatives are ranked with grades of membership based on the prevailing conditions of the study region where the concerned Universities and the institutions are located. newline
