Abstract

Data-driven approaches are increasingly recognized for their potential to enhance the efficiency, equity, and responsiveness of social protection systems. Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB- newlinePMJAY), launched by the Government of India in 2018, is the world s largest publicly funded health insurance initiative, presenting extensive opportunities for data-driven analysis of India s healthcare and social security landscape. Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focused on poverty eradication and universal health coverage (UHC), the work operates at the confluence newlineof public policy, data science, and healthcare. Drawing from extensive literature and global practices, it identifies the need for robust analytical frameworks to address key challenges such as fragmented data systems, dynamic policy shifts, heterogeneous beneficiary information, and under utilization of health services among vulnerable populations.
