Effectiveness of community based comprehensive lifestyle promotion package on cardiovascular risk among adult with hypertension in villages at Thirukalukundram block in Kancheepuram

Abstract

Hypertension is a silent invisible killer that rarely causes symptoms. It affects one billion people worldwide leading to heart attacks and strokes. Raised blood pressure is a warning sign to get cardiovascular problems. Hence, significant lifestyle changes are urgently needed. People need to know why raised blood pressure is dangerous, how to take steps to control it. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of community based comprehensive lifestyle promotion package on cardiovascular risk among adult with hypertension. Community based comprehensive lifestyle promotion package has a group of interventions that helps the adult with hypertension to know about the various aspects of cardio-vascular risk and develop healthy life style to prevent the cardiovascular diseases. The objectives of the study were to assess the effectiveness of community based community based comprehensive lifestyle promotion package on cardio-vascular risk among adults with hypertension between experimental and control group. Community based comprehensive lifestyle promotion package may be utilized in the chronic disease clinic to promote the lifestyle among adults with hypertension and also for other chronic diseased clients. Community based comprehensive lifestyle promotion package can be administered to clients who are attending outreach clinic to improve their awareness and improve the efficiency in managing their health and well being.
