Creation of solid wastes continues to be from the evolution of human civilization, but it has accentuated since the industrial revolution accompanied by urbanization and modernization. With the rise of standard of living and growth of global population, the generation of solid wastes has been a serious issue in the last century. With increased varieties of goods and services in the consumption pattern, the solid waste generation and its disposal has become one newlineof the important problems in the present century. In this backdrop solid waste management remained in the domain of urban governance and given the nomenclature of Municipal Solid waste. With holistic consideration, Solid Waste Management Rule 2016 was introduced in India for effective management of solid waste. In the entire cycle of solid waste generation and newlinedisposal, segregation at the generator s point was considered to be one of the most important areas, which can facilitate for solid waste disposal in a more effective and scientific manner. newlineTaking this in view, the effectiveness of solid waste segregation principle is looked into in this research study. For this the Millennium city of Gurugram was chosen and purposively the area around Medanta, the Multispecialty Hospital (constituting the ward No. 28) became the sample area of study. In these two sector areas viz. sector 38, 39 and the two urbanized villages viz. newlineIslampur and Jhadsa were taken for the study. A mixed-methodology approach was used to newlineexplore a variety of potentially salient influences on the practice of segregation and behavioural responses to the new Rules of Solid waste Management, 2016. 212 households were studied through structured questionnaire and primary data was collected. Focus Group Discussion and in-depth interview were conducted to elicit the qualitative information. During the research, COVID arrived, and life underwent significant changes and also the ways solid wastes handled.
