In-service teachers training is a vital indicator for quality elementary education in the country. Various quality dimensions involved in the programme such as: management of programme, learning materials/training package, resource persons, approaches/ methods of transactions, residential facilities in the centre, infrastructure and supervision/monitoring need to be studied. Everyone concerned with the educational system s performance agrees that the improvement of teaching qualities is a high priority in any educational programmes. Teachers are assigned the role of change agents and are presented with new challenges, e.g. to make education global and permanent, flexible enough to serve in any environment (in or out of the classroom) for life, and reflective of the community. Teachers have to learn to adapt creatively to changes in science and technology and to prepare generations who are universal, critical, and creative and who have firm identities with their socio- cultural background. This investigation has studied the Impact of In-service Teacher Education Programmes on classroom transaction of Sarav Shiksha Abhiyaan Teachers of Punjab. For this purpose, 150 teachers and 150 students were randomly selected from Patiala districts of Punjab. Questionnaires related to Impact of In-service Teacher Education Programmes on Class Room Transactions and classroom observations schedule was managed to the selected school teachers and selected school students. It could be concluded that these programmes have a encouraging impact on the class room transactions of the teachers but still only a few teachers and students were capable to resolve class room difficulties by consulting various sources such as print material and module, audio-visual material, library facilities, transaction techniques and the Internet. newlineKeywords: Teacher Impact, In-service Training, Classroom Transaction, Classroom Observations newline newline
