dc.description.abstractRoller compacted concrete is a mixture of dense graded aggregates, sand, cement, and water newlinewhich does not have slump because of its low water content. It is to be placed by asphalt newlinepaver and compacted properly by roller to attain required strength parameters. Roller newlinecompacted concrete is advantageous because of less bleeding and shrinkage after its newlineplacement. The current study aims to use crusher dust as replacement to fine aggregate along newlinewith sodium bentonite as an admixture. The usage of sodium bentonite helps in acceleration newlineof hydration process due to its chemical composition. The gradation mixes for aggregates newlineare prepared and confirms to MoRTH requirements. Mixes are prepared at their optimum newlinemoisture content according to ACI guidelines by varying percentages cement and newlineadmixture. The mechanical properties viz Compressive strength, Split tensile strength and newlineFlexural strength are tested after curing of 3, 7 and 28 days. The results obtained are thus newlinecompared with parent concrete and sustainable usage of crusher dust is assessed. Further newlineinvestigations corresponding to microstructure analysis and resistance to chemical attack newlineare carried out on optimum mix and the application of roller compacted concrete is thus newlineevaluated. The investigations show that roller compaction concrete is optimized with middle newlinegradation (GM) in the mix and with increase in percentage of cement. From the study it can newlinebe concluded that roller compacted concrete endows good results corresponding to newlinemechanical properties at 28 days period of curing. The mix with 15% cement is found to be newlineexceptionally durable along with strong bond between hydrates of cement from newlinemicrostructure study. newline
