Adequate Coverage of Event Region based on Optimum Camera Actuation in Redundant Data Elimination for Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks

Abstract

Out of various challenges encountered in wireless multimedia sensor networks, attaining newlineenhanced coverage while effectively diminishing the amount of redundant data transfer is a newlinecrucial matter of engrossment. Normally, two types of sensors are deployed in such networks newlinenamely, scalar and camera sensors. Since camera sensors consume greater amount of energy newlinethan the scalars, therefore they are typically kept in turned off condition. When any kind of event prevails in a monitored territory, this is firstly trapped by the scalar sensors.Afterwards, the scalars report regarding the event information to their corresponding camera newlinesensors within whose depth of fields the scalar sensors reside. After being informed by the concerned scalar sensors, the cameras collaboratively decide their order of activation. newlineHowever, the problem is that overlapping takes place among the field of views and depth of fields of camera sensors. In consequence, the scalars dwelling at the common superimposed newlinezones convey their readings repeatedly leading to redundant data transmission.
