Abstract
The malware programs or worms become a serious threat to the networking society. It is a self-dependent program that can propagate through the communication network and it replicates over it. The target system shall occur mild to serious security as well as privacy risks. These programs shall cause inconsistency in the network by occupying the bandwidth, denial of service, producing redundant information, file degeneracy, file alteration, etc. The necessity to study the characteristic of these worms is a must to safeguard any communication network. This research focused on the investigation of worm propagation in multimedia-enabled devices, especially under Bluetooth communication. This thesis provides two efficient approaches to examine the worm propagation under controlled conditions. The outcomes of the investigation have been compared with the existing worm propagation mechanism and the consequences are discussed. Since mobility is an important factor that affects the propagation of these worms, certain distinctive mobility patterns and their characteristics are examined.
