Field experiment was conducted in strip block design to study the response of newlinetwo sugarcane cultivars [SNK 09211 (C1) and SNK 07680 (C2)] as horizontal strips to newlinesix nutrient management practices (NMPs) viz.,[N1: 100% organics through farmyard newlinemanure (FYM), vermicompost (VC), in situ green manuring of dhaincha (IGM) newlineequivalent to RDN, N2: 100 % organics through FYM, VC, Biodigetser filtrate (BDF) newline1/3rd each equivalent to RDN, N3: 100 % organics through FYM and BDF (50% each) newlineequivalent to RDN, N4: 100 % organics through FYM and VC (50% each) equivalent to newlineRDN, N5: Farmers practice and N6: Recommended package of practices (RPP)] as newlinevertical strips, with special reference to organic jaggery production and quality during newline2017-18 (plant) and 2018-19 (ratoon) at organic site, ARS Sankeshwar. newlineThe cultivar SNK 07680 produced significantly higher plant and ratoon cane newlineyield of 128.1 and 123.0 t ha-1, respectively. It also recorded superior juice quality, newlinejaggery yield (14.59 t ha-1 in plant and 14.16 t ha-1 in ratoon cane) and good quality newline(A2 grade) jaggery. Among organic NMPs, N1 and N2 recorded significantly higher newlineplant cane, ratoon cane and jaggery yield. The organic NMPs (N1 to N5) recorded higher newlinedehydrogenase, urease and phosphatase enzyme activity after harvest in both plant and newlineratoon cane than RPP. newlineThe interactions, N1C2 (132.4 and 122.4 t ha-1) and N2C2 (130.4 and 121.5 t ha-1) newlinerecorded significantly higher cane yield in both plant and ratoon crops, respectively. newlineThese interactions also recorded higher jaggery yield. Significantly higher net returns newlinewas obtained from plant cane with N1C2 (and#1048576; 257450 ha-1), N2C2 (and#1048576; 250850 ha-1) and newlinethrough FYM + BDF (50 % each) with cultivar SNK 07680 (N3C2, and#1048576; 266680 ha-1). newlineFor organic jaggery production, significantly higher net returns in plant cane newlinewere recorded with same interactions viz., N1C2 (and#1048576;551920 ha-1), N2C2 (and#1048576;534880 ha-1) newlineand N3C2 (and#1048576;543390 ha-1). Similar trend followed for ratoon jaggery production.
