Women occupies a very prominent place in the workplace. They are entering the corporate sector in huge numbers but their number is still less vis a vis their male counterparts. The respondents in the study newlinewere women working at all the levels in MNCs, IT Companies and Private banks in Chandigarh and Gurgaon region. The objectives of the study were to examine their socio-economic and demographic newlineprofile, to study their role conflict, job satisfaction, occupational mobility and glass ceiling. It has been inferred that educated women are entering the corporate sector. Women are seen to be present at all newlinethe levels. However, more number of women are seen at the low and middle level managerial positions and less number of women are found at the senior and top management level. Women are seen to be newlinehaving role conflict across at the levels. However, more number of married women were seen to be having role conflict as they have more responsibilities. Most of women were found to be dissatisfied with their jobs. They had lot of problems in changing their jobs. Biasness is seen at the time of recruitment, promotion and in wages newlinewhere preference is given to men. A major revelation drawn is that women are prevented from reaching the top level in the corporate hierarchy. There is existence of glass ceiling which acts as an impediment in their progress. Patriarchal mindset prevails even ,in the corporate world and inspite of women excelling in academics the preference is for men. newline
